Without getting into too much detail at the moment, we’re introducing a few new gear items, tools, and systems that should help make late-game survival a little more viable for most players.
(Don’t worry, we’re exempting this new challenge from the Challenge Mastery achievement. Nobody in the office has been able to complete it yet.
We’ve taking inspiration from the community’s “Deadman” take on custom mode settings, and have created our own version as a standalone Challenge mode which, frankly, we think is the toughest experience we’ve ever made. There’s a new area with several industrial buildings, and this region will be the first to feature Timberwolves in Survival Mode. This will be our first region to feature a two-part environmental puzzle of sorts - in order to unlock the region’s full potential, you’ll need to access it from two different locations. They're not telling us everything coming to the Survival Mode update yet, but we do know it's called ERRANT PILGRIM and the big free expansion will release around the middle of December along with a narrated video too. It hasn't been long since the release of Episode 3 for the story back in October, so Hinterland have certainly been busy. The Long Dark is certainly an interesting one, especially since it has a Story Mode and a Survival Mode to give the best of both worlds. Cold and lonely survival game The Long Dark is getting a huge update to the survival mode next month, it sounds great too with some of the details Hinterland Studio have teased.
